Elísabet Gunnarsdóttir, Treasurer of the Icelandic Basque Association
BIO:
Elísabet is an architect by training, a curator and museum director for Listasafn ASÍ Art Museum since 2016. A decade ago, she founded ArtsIceland residency center and Gallerí Úthverfa / Outvert Art Space in Ísafjörður. She owned the design office kol&salt ehf that designed several public buildings in the Westfjords from 1988 – 2003.
She is a former director of nkd – Nordic Artist´s Center in Dale, a Norwegian art institution under the Nordic Council of Ministers and founding director of Fogo Island Arts in Canada. She was on the design team for the Fogo Island Inn and lead several other projects for Shorefast Foundation in Newfoundland Canada in their primal years.
She is on the board of directors for several institutions including the Icelandic Basque Association, the Westfjords Regional Development Office, the University Centre of the Westfjords – UW and the Icelandic Art Centre – IAC which she chairs.
She travels all over Iceland for art projects and exhibitions and splits her time between Reykjavík and Ísafjörður where she lives.
