Haizebegi

Create with them, not just for them.

In Haizebegi, music is a common language: it creates spaces for people to come together, listen, and experiment, where everyone can take part in collective creation and reflection.

When designing its projects, the association works closely with the social and medical-social stakeholders in the region. It involves beneficiaries in the proposed initiatives and fosters the creative abilities of people in vulnerable situations through projects in which they become active participants.

Haizebegi is thus developing initiatives with organizations committed to support and inclusion, including: the Don Bosco Institute (unaccompanied minors), Atherbea, emergency shelters, asylum seekers at the CADA, the French Red Cross, and the ICRC in Geneva (as part of projects focused on refugee rights).

This approach relies on the synergy of various profiles and skills: artists, researchers (cognitive sciences, anthropology, etc.), educational teams, healthcare professionals, family organizations, musicians working in the field, etc.

The goal remains the same: to make music a tool for openness, inclusion, and social justice, and a concrete way to “build community” throughout the Basque Country.

This approach is structured around three main areas of focus:

  • Youth & Schools : workshops, meetings, and projects developed in collaboration with students (see Les Ateliers du Futur).
  • Training & Higher Education : knowledge transfer, practices, diverse perspectives—including, for example, the workshop Filming Music during the festival.
  • Music, Health & Medical-Social Services : projects at the intersection of creativity and care, in partnership with hospitals and on-the-ground partners (such as the initiatives carried out through MusiKautisme, or collaborations with the Hôpital Marin in Hendaye).

This section brings together these “shared” initiatives and will be expanded with each edition to highlight the projects, partners, and experiences carried out with the public.
