The Basque Country and Iceland: A Shared Maritime History
Basque Country – Iceland: A Shared Maritime History The Baskasetur project, led by Haizebegi, gave rise in 2025 to a Basque cultural center in Iceland. This venue tells the story of the maritime ties that have connected the Basques and Icelanders for several centuries, centered on whaling, seafaring, and trade in the North Atlantic.
