“After a defeat, I’ve often thought about music. Picking up a cello—letting it make me vibrate in a way other than through an opponent’s blows. Caressing a violin to find peace again. Running my fingers over the keys of a piano. I, who’ve almost always had my hands bandaged and encased in gloves… ” This is what Freddy Saïd Skouma writes in his confessional book *Le Corps du boxeur* (Pauvert). But today, for the first time, at the initiative of the Haizebegi Festival, Skouma, the boxing champion, steps into the ring to juxtapose his writings with the music of the fabulous jazz trio Aka Moon, with his stage partner Paul Minthe providing the counterpoint. The art of boxing intertwines with the poetry of sound.
